The server running the data management system has been upgraded. Some irregularities may be expected.

WMO TEMP and SYNOP are currently being processed for future online access.

ECMWF and METNO HIRLAM data for the Arctic is available online through a rolling archive. Data for other areas are available upon request for IPY scientists. ECMWF data are access controlled. Please contact us with proper information on your IPY affilation if you want data. A graphical interface to selected fields is available to everyone.

The searchable metadatabase is now available.

HTML forms for submission of metadata or information on operational datasets are added. Please be aware that your web browser should support caching to handle the need for corrections to the form at present. This will be modified.

The IPY operational data coordination focuse on data useful for operational service and how to make them available to users in accordance with the IPY Data Policy.

The purpose of this site is to provide an overview of which operational data that are available for IPY-projects and where to find them. Some of the data collected by IPY projects during IPY might also be useful for operational use during the project period. Please add information on such datasets. Furthermore, it is intended to make the actual datasets available online wherever possible, either by linking online resources elsewhere or by storing data locally. However, the technical interfaces are yet not finished and functionality will be added gradually. Check out the data overview for more information on datasets and access to the metadatabase.

In the operation of IPY operational data services the Norwegian Meteorological Institute is examining WMO Information System compliant software and attempts to comply with the specifications of WIS where they are known.

This service is coordinated through the International Polar Year Data and Information Service (IPYDIS) hosted by NSIDC. Please use IPYDIS and IPY for further information on IPY activities and services. The IPY operational data coordination will use the IPYDIS Discussion Forum for announcements and community discussions. Please register and participate.
